Grace, peace, and mercy be to you from God, our Father, and from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Throughout the centuries, millions of people have staked their lives and eternal destinies on God’s Word. Since the invention of the printing press in 1450 (the Bible was the first book printed), the Bible has topped the best-seller list year after year, century after century. It’s estimated that nearly four billion Bibles have been published in the last 175 years. Each new year sees the distribution of another 100 million Bibles. The entire Bible or parts of it have been translated into 2,000 languages. So what is the Bible? What do you know about the Bible? "
?To know the contents of the Bible,?" someone once wisely observed, "?is far more important than to know things about the Bible.?" How true that is! Yet, it is also true that knowing a few things about the Bible can help us better understand the Bible itself. As that same writer quickly added, "Nevertheless, a knowledge of the history and make-up of the Bible will be an inducement to Christians to read the Bible with greater absorption and will help them to study its contents with more purpose."With this in mind we need to take the opportunity to study the Bible; its history and its contents. In order to do so we will begin a study of the Bible called "The Bible; An Overview". We will offer this study at 7:00 PM on Wednesday nights beginning in September. We as God’s people want to come to a deeper appreciation of what makes the Bible so special and to grow in our ability to read and understand it. To this end may God bless us!
In His Name
