The theme for this school year is "In the beginning God created…" Genesis 1:1. It was chosen because we want to emphasize the fact that God created the world and did not take millions of years to do it.

When I listen to the History channel, the Discovery channel, or just about any nature programming, many times the subject of the age of the earth and the origin of life will be discussed. It always seems to be presented as evolution is a fact and that the earth is millions of years old.

What is really frustrating is that evolution is not a fact and is not even a valid theory in science. The theory of evolution breaks a number of laws of science; and therefore, should be changed to match the facts or discarded all together.

Why then does the theory persist? Evolution is no longer science, but a belief system which gives man the right to make the rules and say there is no God.

As Christians, we know somebody who was there at the beginning of time and He has the account recorded in the Bible. We do not have to apologize for the creation story, and we need to realize that it holds up scientifically.
