A Music Note ¯What a joy to sing, "Jesus Christ is Risen Today! Alleluia!" on Easter morning. In fact it has been a joy to sing God's praises all year long with our Concordia Adult Choir. I would like to personally thank all those who have shared their musical talents throughout the school year both vocally and instrumentally. We will be taking a break during May - August, although we will continue to have some special music from time to time. As always we invite others to join us in the Fall. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!"
In His Service,
Denise Hennig

To my fellow choir members…
I want to send out a great big thank you for the wonderful little baby shower you threw me at our last choir rehearsal for the year. It was such a great surprise! Michael and I really loved all of the little clothes and gifts and it meant so much to us. It is so wonderful to be a part of our church family and my choir family. Hopefully soon, we will have another little "voice" in our home, our church and someday, maybe, in our choir and I will be able to thank all of you for helping me to start off her life hearing such wonderful music and praise to God.
Thank You, Lora & Michael B

Summer Stewardship
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…" (Hebrew 10:25).
"Summer time and livin' is easy" the old song goes. Warm weather, vacations, no school, golf, tennis, fishing, hiking, swimming, relaxing, less hectic schedules…all seem to define summer time.
Thankfully our Lord never takes a vacation from blessing us with His abundant love, gracious gifts, and providential care. The Psalmist writes about our Heavenly Father, "He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand." (Psalm 121:4-5). The Lord’s care is ongoing. He never tires of caring for us.
Summer presents God’s people with numerous opportunities to be good stewards of His manifold gifts. We care for the wonderful world He has given us when we are outdoors.
We treasure the important relationships we enjoy as we spend time with loved ones. Also, we use wisely the material blessings He gives us.
There is great temptation during the summer months to neglect the most precious of all our Lord’s gifts, His holy Word and Sacraments offered in worship. As many other responsibilities are taken more lightly in the relaxed atmosphere of summer living, so, too, are we tempted to take lightly the spiritual aspect of our lives. Vacation plans and recreational activities often replace worship. And we diminish in the stewardship of our Christian faith by letting worldly things take precedence over God in our lives.
In response to our Lord for His grace and mercy, may we place Him first in all our summer plans and activities, allowing adequate time for worship, Bible reading, meditation, and prayer. May we be good stewards of God’s rich blessings. May we all continue to support the mission and ministries of Concordia Lutheran Church with our regular tithes and offerings given from thankful hearts, even when we are away from home.
I Remember?
I remember when the Concordia church members voted on being a part of the Lutheran High association. It was a very happy day for incoming students. The old Immanuel School was the place we were going to rent for one dollar a year. It needed a lot of work. It was so neat to see parents and students come to help get the building ready. There were a lot of extra volunteers and friends that helped too. It was an awesome sight to see. We had a great faculty to help get the school started and so many volunteers along the way to help keep it going. Submitted by Jean H.mAY Chapel Offerings

Adult Stem Cell Research Funding
Rep. Randy Forbes (R. VA.) and biochemist Dr. David Prentice have an editorial in Roll Call urging funding priorities be shifted from unsuccessful embryonic stem cell research to adult stem cell research that is currently treating patients. The authors point out that taxpayer funding for embryonic stem cell research has increased 40% since 2008, but adult stem cell research has only increased 20%. Despite this advantage, the editorial notes that embryonic stem cell research has never successfully treated a single person, yet an estimated 50, 000 adult stem cell transplants occur worldwide every year. {From "Breath of Life" the newsletter published by Springfield Right to Life.}
