The twelve days of Christmas are just about over and with that most of the homecomings, family fellowships, and parties will get much less for awhile. For some, Christmas and even the time immediately after Christmas can be depressing and lonely. I am sure that God never intended our celebrations to be that way, but that is how the world leaves us.
Sin always separates us from God, which really is the ultimate loneliness. The devil, the world, and our sinful self never leaves us close with anyone especially God. So as we leave Christmas behind for another year, we certainly will not leave the baby in the manger. We remember that He grew, died on the cross, and rose again on Easter. He has promised that we will never have to be lonely again.
So whether we have many friends or not so many, or whether we are surrounded by family or they are waiting for us in heaven, we always have Jesus right there with us. He is there when we feel alone, when we are ill, and even in death. We are never alone.
Matthew 28:20 b
"….I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Have a blessed New Year, and may Christ walk with you every step of the way.
