A note from the Principal: "In the beginning God created…" Genesis 1:1. From the Bible we have this absolute truth in how the word began. Our world has the theory of evolution to explain the origin of life. Which do you believe? It is important to understand that both views are a belief. Evolution is not really good science because it breaks scientific laws and should be discarded, but our world does not want to accept the alternative.

Then one could ask the question whether God could have used millions of years to create the world. Yes, He could have but that is not what the Bible says. I choose to believe the Bible, when it says that God took 6 days and He rested on the 7th. It really makes the most sense.

Come and listen to Ken Ham in his second presentation as he explains creation from a scientific view point on Sep. 29 at 7:00pm.

God bless you all as we enjoy God’s creation with our families. . -Dan Henschen

Vision & Hearing Screening

Wednesday: September 23rd starting at noon!

Vision screening will be done, as mandated, for the following children:

Vision: Mandates are children in kindergarten, second, and eight grades, children referred

by teachers and transferred children who are new to school.

Hearing: Mandated are children in kindergarten, first, second & third grades, children

referred by teachers and transferred children who are new to school.

Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo the vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months and that evaluation is on file at the school. This notice is not permission to test and is not required to be returned. Vision screening is NOT an option. If a vision examination is not on file at the school for your child, your child will be screened.

*Watch the State Journal Register for:

future writings by the Concordia’s own 5th & 6th grade students!

Our student’s writings may be found as part of "Kid Scoop," which is published on Wednesday of each week. These are some of last year’s writings that were in the paper after school let out.

What is a shark’s favorite food? A shark’s favorite food is fish and ships! -Nick (5th grade)(06-24-09)

A rooster laid an egg on the point of a roof. What way will the egg fall, right or left? Neither, rosters don’t lay eggs! -Logan (5th grade)(06-24-09)

I have two jokes for you. What is smaller than a dog, but can scare away a bear? It is a skunk! One more! Why did the chicken cross the basketball court? The chicken crossed the basketball court because the referee called fowl!

-Emily (6th grade)(06-24-09)

My favorite cartoon is Animaniacs. Animaniacs is my favorite cartoon because my dad loves it and it is just plain funny. This show stars the Warner Bros., Wacko, Yacko and their little sister Dot. They get into lots of trouble, which makes the show fun. I will always enjoy watching this cartoon with my family. -Emily (6th grade)(06-17-09)

My favorite cartoon is Family Circus. The kids are always asking mom stuff. My favorite one is the kid is in bed and says to his mom, "Mom, I can’t be sick, it is pizza day at school!"

-Cassie (6th grade)(06-17-09)

My favorite cartoon is Bugs Bunny. The reason why I like Bugs Bunny is because he always says "What’s up doc?" My favorite episode is when Bugs is giving a haircut to the hunter and then they start dancing. -Sierra (6th grade)(06-17-09)

The next two are words that should be sung to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

Oh, summer, summer you’re so fun, dancing, playing in the sun.

Green leaves reaching up so high, fireworks flashing in the sky.

Swimming, splashing in the pool, oh, summer how I treasure you!

-Emily (6th grade)(07-01-09)

Summer, summer so much fun, from the time I get up until dawn.

If you wonder what I do, I will tell you in a few.

Days are long and nights are warm, and I swim until I’m through.

Summer, summer, so much fun, I wish you would last all year long!
