There is hope for your future, declares the Lord. Jeremiah 31:17a The Charger |
[To Home Page] [To Site Map] [To Grade School Page] [Other Charger Editions] October 5, 2007 On
occasion I hear parents say that their children are working two to four
hours on homework a night. That is too much. Children need a set bed time
and need to limit the homework to fit that time. Help your child to use
homework time wisely so it is not wasted. Thank
you for the opportunity to teach your children about their Savior and His
world. God
bless you all. Dan Henschen THANK
YOU: Thanks
to all who participated and/or helped with our Fall Activity last Friday.
The children had a good time experiencing the various kinds of old
fashioned games. A special thanks to the PTL for providing snacks for the
children and to Mrs. Henschen for the lunches and root beer floats. The
wonderful part is to see the friendships that began during the activities
and the special bonds that will last throughout the year. PARENT
MEETING: A
make up class will be offered for any parents that missed the parent
meetings. This class will be held October 23rd from 7-8pm. Child care will
be provided. SPELLING
BEE:
Concordia will conduct it’s annual spelling bee on Friday, October 19th.
Our school spelling bee fulfills a two fold purpose. All children in
grades 2-8 participate thereby allowing everyone an opportunity to
participate in a spelling bee giving God the praise and glory for minds
that can learn and spell. The second purpose is to choose our
representatives from grades 3-8 who will participate in the area-wide
Lutheran schools spelling at Lutheran High School in January. By having
our spelling bee now, the ones chosen to go to Lutheran High will have
sufficient time to study the word lists. Parents are invited to attend. We
will begin at 10:00 with grades 2-4. We break for lunch, and at 1:00 the
5-8 graders will have their
opportunity. The times are somewhat flexible because the times for any
given grade level depend on how well the children are spelling. PARENT—TEACHER
CONFERENCES FOR K-8:
The first quarter ends on October 26th. Report cards will be issued on
Wednesday, October 31st. Conferences will be scheduled for parents to meet
with teachers on Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2. These
conferences are for parents K-8. The preschool will not be having
conferences at this time. Please call the office (529-3309) as soon as you
can schedule your time. Appointments are made through the office so that
we can coordinate families with more than one child with times that are
back to back. **************************************************************************** CALENDAR 10/8

GOOD ADVICE *The
best way to get even is to forget it. *Feed
your faith, and your doubts will starve to death. *God
wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts. *Marriages
may be made in heaven, but they ALL have to be maintained on earth. *Unless
you can create the WHOLE universe in 6 days, then perhaps giving advice to
God isn’t
such a good idea. *Sorrow
looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up. *Standing
in the middle of the road is dangerous.
You will get knocked down by the traffic from both ways. *It
isn’t difficult to make a mountain out of a molehill; just add a little
dirt. *A
successful marriage isn’t finding the right person—it’s being the
right person. *The
might oak was once a little nut that held its ground. *The
tongue must be heavy indeed because so few people can hold it. *To
forgive is to set the prisoner free and then discover the prisoner was
you. *You
have to wonder about humans, they think God is dead and Elvis is alive. *If
the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, you can bet the water
bill is higher. *And
last but not least —
God gave the angels wings, and He gave humans CHOCOLATE! web address: www.concordiaspfld.org
