Growing in Grace and Knowledge 2 Peter 3:18 The Charger |
[To Home Page] [To Site Map] [To Grade School Page] [Other Charger Editions] PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: As we watch our children "grow in grace and knowledge", I am reminded of my garden. Sometimes the plants grow vigorously, and other times, they are stressed so their growth is slowed or stopped all together. That is just like our children where their physical growth is varied all through childhood, but it is the same for their spiritual growth. Take time to watch your childs spiritual growth and help them to grow with family devotions, prayer, and regular worship. We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love everyone of you has for each other is increasing. 2 Thessalonians 1:3 Take time to talk to your child about mid term reports. Your interest in their education gives them reason to be interested themselves. Remember the Camp CILCA Wiener Roast on October 4 sponsored by the P.T.L. Have some great family fun. The teachers thank God always for the opportunity to teach your children. God bless you all. Dan Henschen WORSHIP ETIQUETTE: Our church has stated proper etiquette for worshipers as follows: "We ask that the congregation limit unnecessary movement and talking during our worship services in order not to distract from the worship experience of others. Drinks and restroom visits should be taken care of before worship begins. Should it become necessary for a child to leave during the worship service, we ask that an adult accompany their child and exit through the glass doors at the back of the church. Children, all ages through high school, should not leave the sanctuary by themselves during the worship service. If your child is having a bad day or having difficulty being still, please take them to the narthex or basement until they are quieted and then return. If a parent near you is having trouble with a child, please offer your assistance. We praise God that God has perfected His praise in children. He invites children to come to Him, that children are the greatest in the Kingdom of God and that children may learn to sit quietly and participate in worship when they are encouraged to do so. Thank you." SCHOOL PICTURES: School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, October 14, and again on Monday, October 20. Watch for packet information later! As the children play the games, the parents and children bid on items in the silent auction. The hours are 10:00 till 2:00 with games, food, and fun for all! Help is needed to make our Fall Festival a success. One of our major fundraisers is our Silent Auction. Please contact local businesses for donations. There is a folder in the school hallway with letters for businesses when you contact them. NO SCHOOL: There will be no school on Thursday and Friday, October 9 & 10, in order for the teachers to attend the CID Lutheran Teachers Conference at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Bloomington, IL. There WILL be school on the following Monday, October 13, Columbus Day. SPELLING BEE: Concordia will have its annual spelling bee on Friday, October 24. Our school spelling bee fulfills a 2 fold purpose. All children in grades 2-8 participate thereby allowing everyone an opportunity to participate in a spelling bee giving God the praise and glory for minds that can learn and spell. The second purpose is to choose our representatives from grades 3-8 who will participate in the area-wide Lutheran schools spelling bee at Lutheran High School in January. By having our spelling bee now, the ones chosen to go to Lutheran High will have sufficient time to study the word lists. LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL NEWS: Today, October 3, and Friday, October 17, are 2 p.m. dismissal days for faculty meetings. Lutheran High will not have school on October 13 for Columbus Day. There will be testing on October 14 and an half day on October 15. PARENT -TEACHER CONFERENCES: The first quarter ends on October 31. Report Cards will be issued on Wednesday, November 5. Thank you for your cooperation this fall with the dress code. We appreciate your help! THANK YOU: Thanks to our PTL for sponsoring the skating party at Skateland South on September 18. It was good for our school families to get to know each other and enjoy a family activity. DIRECTIONS TO OUR FATHERS HOUSE Make a Right onto "Believeth Blvd." Keep Straight and go through the Green Light, which is Jesus Christ. From there, you must turn onto the "Bridge of Faith," which is over troubled water. When you get off the bridge, make a Right turn and Keep Straight. You are on the "Kings Highway" - Heaven-bound. Keep going for three miles: One for the Father, One for the Son, and One for the Holy Ghost. Then exit off onto "Grace Blvd." From there, make a Right turn on "Gospel Lane." Keep Straight and then make another Right on "Prayer Road." As you go on your way, Yield Not to the traffic on "Temptation Ave." Also, avoid SIN STREET because it is a DEAD END. Pass up "Envy Drive," and "Hate Avenue." Also, pass "Hypocrisy Street," "Gossiping Lane," and "Backbiting Blvd." However, you have to go down "Long-Suffering Lane," "Persecution Blvd.," and "Trials and Tribulations Ave." But thats all right, because VICTORY Street is straight ahead!
