November 21, 2008

Thanksgiving is almost here, but that may not always make us feel very thankful. Sometimes, it may seem that we just do not have many things for which to be thankful. The high prices, our permissive society, the wars, our slumping economy and family problems can really make us feel pessimistic, certainly not thankful.

God has an answer in the form of His Son, Jesus. Christ beat Satan on the cross and although we still suffer the effects of sin, we have the final victory through Christ. Knowing Heaven is our home, makes it much easier for us while we are still on earth as we live in the certain hope of our salvation. So we should be like Paul when he wrote, “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18).

God bless you all as we enter this holiday season. May you truly have the joy of His salvation.

-Dan Henschen
