PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: Thanksgiving is just around the corner and hopefully we all know that it is not the only time of the year to be thankful to God. Certainly here at Concordia we can be thankful for “75 years of God’s grace among us”.
During this time of heightened school security. We also are working to keep our children safe. New more usable door knobs are being installed on all the classroom doors. We are also looking at other improvements.
Thanks to the Board of Property Management for all the work they have done on remodeling the restrooms.
God bless you as we lift us thankful hearts to the Lord. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Psalm 95:2
Dan Henschen

BASKETBALL JAMBOREE/PTL CHILI SUPPER: Don’t forget the jamboree and chili supper tonight! Come and enjoy fun, fellowship, good food, and enjoyable varsity girls and boys basketball at Concordia. The jamboree begins at 4:30, as does the Chili Supper. With the chili supper will be our Chili Cook-Off. Cook-Off chili will be available to eat as well as the “House Chili”. Come one...come all!

THANKSGIVING: Thanksgiving Vacation begins at 1:00 on Wednesday, November 22. School resumes on Monday, November 27, at 8:30 AM.

END OF MID-QUARTER: The end of the mid-quarter is Friday, December 1. Reports will be sent home on Wednesday, December 6.

A THANKSGIVING MEAL (including fun and games) will be held this Sunday, November 19th beginning at 4:30pm in the gymnasium. This event is for the entire Concordia family! Please come and help us give thanks to God for His many blessings to us. The turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and drinks will be provided. Families with the last name A-M are asked to bring a vegetable dish or dessert, N-Z are asked to bring a salad or dessert. We are also collecting items for our newly formed Concordia Cares Food Bank.

A MUSIC NOTE The 5th—8th graders are scheduled to perform at White Oaks Mall Food Court on Wednesday, December 13th during the lunch hour. (Approx. 11:30am—12:30pm) You might want to share this information with family and friends that would be available to come and support us as we share the true meaning of Christmas through song, bells, and chimes!

LOVE SHOP – The dates for this year’s Love Shop are Thursday, December 2nd and Friday December 3rd. The ladies of our congregation make and gather items all year long to provide our children with a Christmas shopping opportunity. Prices are kept very reasonable to allow children to shop for multiple family members if they desire. This becomes their chance to do a little independent shopping. The first day of shopping the children are limited to the number of items they can purchase. On the second shopping day they may purchase as much as they can afford. The rules will be the same as last year, there will be no lay-a-ways, no charges, and the children can only spend the amount of money they have brought with them. Also there will be no adult shopping prior to the children shopping. The remainder of the items will be available for the adults to purchase on Sunday, December 5th after both services and Wednesday December 8th at the Advent dinner.

The Concordia Cares Food Pantry is up and running and is already assisting several Concordia families. Food is being distributed based on the size of the household and we try to provide enough to help the family get by for five to seven days. We would like to include jars of peanut butter and jelly in every bag that goes out, so we have a special need for PB&J! If the Food Pantry can assist your family, please let Pastor Hennig, Pastor Cross, Dan Henschen or Sue E. know.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS: The Early Childhood Christmas Program will be on Thursday, December 14, at 7:00 PM. Grades 1-8 will have their program on Wednesday, December 20, at 7:00. PM.

SCRAP and CRAFT NIGHT This month’s Scrap and Craft Night will be Friday, December 8, starting at 5:00pm. In the Church basement. Get away from your hectic holiday schedule and join us for a few hours of scrap booking. Not a scrapper? Come and finish up your Christmas cards or holiday gifts projects. For those who are interested there will be scrapbook/card making make-and-takes for around $5. Bring your own drinks and a snack to share if you would like. Need more info? Call Sue E. at 971-1410.
