The only way this can happen in our lives is if Christ is in our heart. He is the source of all grace and knowledge. "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledgethat you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3: 17-19 Thanks to all the volunteers that made our Fall Festival a success. It was a great time for all--especially the children. God bless you all as we begin the second quarter together. Dan Henschen SPELLING BEE: Concordia held its annual spelling bee on Friday, October 24. Congratulations to all who participated. The 1st and 2nd place winners in grades 3-8 will represent Concordia in the area wide spelling bee at Lutheran High in January. The winners are listed by grade level: Grade 2 - 1st place is Malia S., 2nd place is Najee S. Grade 3 - 1st place is Deborah W., 2nd place is Christina W.; Grade 4 - 1st place is Eric S., 2nd place is Olivia L.; Grade 5 - 1st place is Ashley V. 2nd place is Malik C.; Grade 6 - 1st place is Grace A., 2nd place is Ashley L.; Grade 7 - 1st place is Steven S., 2nd place is Elliott J.; and Grade 8 - 1st place is Kasie M., 2nd place is Brooke B. VETERANS DAY: There will be no school on Tuesday, November 11. At a time when we know how much we rely on our armed forces for protection, please take the opportunity to discuss what Veterans Day means to those in your family. Discuss your family members who have served or are currently serving in one of the branches of the armed services. Find ways to tell them how much you value their past and/or present contributions. BASKETBALL JAMBOREE/PTL CHILI SUPPER: Dont forget the jamboree and chili supper on Friday, November 21. Come and enjoy fun, fellowship, good food, and enjoyable varsity girls and boys basketball at Concordia. The jamboree begins at 5:00 as does the Chili Supper. Come one...come all! THANK YOU: Thanks to the PTL organizers and parents who worked so diligently to make the Fall Festival a success. Thank you to everyone for your help and participation. The children had fun with the games, and the parents came away with some excellent bargains from the silent auction. BIBLE BOWL: The annual Lutheran High School sponsored Bible Bowl will be held Saturday, November 15. Concordia students representing our 5th through 8th grades will be participating. We encourage family and friends to attend and show support for our teams. Its a wonderful way to see our children compete in the area of Biblical knowledge and understanding as well as in the sports arena. We thank Lutheran High for sponsoring these opportunities. PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES: Thanks to all the parents for their attendance at our conferences. If you were unable to meet with your childs teacher during the past two days, please call the teacher to set up a time when you can meet. The more communication between home and school, the better for the child. FROM THE TRUSTEES: The church/school trustees would like to thank our children and their parents for their patience and cooperation during the recent parking lot resurfacing and the sidewalk replacement work. Everyones cooperation made the job much easier. Thank you! PORTRAIT DAY IS BACK: Heres your chance if your child was absent, forgot portrait money, needs a retake, or didnt buy portraits or wants more. Picture day will be November 20 at 10:00 A.M. For retakes, be sure to return your original portraits. To purchase new portraits - pick up a flyer in advance from the school office. LUTHERAN HIGH NEWS: Lutheran High will host annual Bible Bowl on November 15. On the same night, LHS will sponsor a 7th-8th grade dance. If you gave us your e-mail address and did not receive the e-mail notice that The Charger is available at the church website, please let Pat Steffen know. If you havent given us your e-mail address, but you would like to be notified, send your e-mail address to school and give it to your childs teacher. THANK YOU: The Barnes family would like to thank Concordias staff and students for the care packages, cards, and letters sent to Grant while he has been deployed in Iraq. Most of all, they would like to thank everyone for their prayers. They ask that we continue to keep Grant and all soldiers in our prayers. May the Lord bring them all home to their loved ones soon. Therefore, logic tells us that the safest place for you to be at any given point in time is at church! Bible study is safe too. The percentage of deaths during Bible study is even less.
