PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: By the time parents read this, our parent-teacher conferences will be finished. We appreciate the time the parents take to come to school and meet with the teachers. One of the important aspects about Christian education is the communication between the home and school. Parents are told when they talk to us about our school that we do not attempt to take over for the parent in the educational process. We are here to aid you in your God-given responsibility. In order for that to happen, we need close communication with the home. Our conferences are one of those times when we actually schedule a discussion about your child’s progress. Please don’t limit your conversations and contacts with your child’s teacher to conference times. Keep the teacher informed on issues and concerns your child has so we can provide the best environment for the children. The more we work together, the better it is for the child.
God bless you all as we begin the second quarter together.

Discuss your family members who have served or are currently serving in one of the branches of the armed services. Find ways to tell them how much you value their past and/or present contributions.

PTL NEWS: The next PTL meeting will be held on November 18 at 5:30.

BASKETBALL JAMBOREE/PTL CHILI SUPPER: Don’t forget the jamboree and chili supper on Friday, November 19. Come and enjoy fun, fellowship, good food, and enjoyable varsity girls and boys basketball at Concordia. The jamboree begins at 5:00 as does the Chili Supper. Come one...come all!

THANK YOU: Thanks to the PTL organizers and parents who worked so diligently to make the Fall Festival a success. Thank you to everyone for your help and participation. The children had fun with the games, and the parents came away with some excellent bargains from the silent auction. Thanks also to Matt Stevens who organized our Fall Celebration after the Fall Festival. The children enjoyed dressing up in Biblical costumes as well as had fun with the activities Matt and his helpers provided. Thanks to the parents and chaperones also!

BIBLE BOWL: The annual Lutheran High School sponsored Bible Bowl will be held Saturday, November 15. Concordia students representing our 5th through 8th grades will be participating. We encourage family and friends to attend and show support for our teams. It’s a wonderful way to see our children compete in the area of Biblical knowledge and understanding as well as in the sports arena. We thank Lutheran High for sponsoring these opportunities.

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES: Thanks to all the parents for their attendance at our conferences. If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher during the past two days, please call the teacher to set up a time when you can meet. The more communication between home and school, the better for the child.

PORTRAIT DAY IS BACK: Here’s your chance if your child needs a retake on school pictures. Picture day will be November 18. For retakes, be sure to return your original portraits. To purchase new portraits - pick up a flyer in advance from the school office.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:

THE 23RD PSALM

Sometimes children have a way of sharing great nuggets of truth. In Robert Ketchums book, I Shall Not Want, he tells of a Sunday School teacher who asked her group of children if anyone could quote the entire 23rd Psalm.

A golden-haired, four-and-a-half-year-old little girl was among those who raised their hands. A bit skeptical, the teacher asked the little girl if she could really quote the entire Psalm.
The little girl came to the front of the room, faced the class, made a perky little bow, and said, “The Lord is my shepherd, that’s all I want.” She bowed again, and sat down.
That may well be the greatest interpretation of the 23rd Psalm ever heard!
