Our theme for this year "In the beginning God created…." Genesis 1:1 may seem a little out of place when we come to the end of the school year, but with every end, there is always a new beginning. God made us, died for us, and will be with us in the end where He has prepared a place for us in Heaven. Our Creator is "on the job" all the time even in summer vacation. Thanks to the congregation, the volunteers, the staff, the parents, and especially the children who made this such a great year. God bless you all this summer and we ask God to be with all the children and help them keep on learning about our world, but also about Him.

During the month of May –
our students collected food for the food pantries and our chapel offerings were given to the food pantry. One of the writing assignments was to write a poem about collecting bags of food. The following are two of the poems:Ye ye Concordians ba ba black bag do you have any food
Have you any food? Yes sir, yes sir, yes we do.
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full One for my master, one for the gang
One for my Master, One for the little boy who lives down the lane
One for my King, ba ba black bag have you any food?
And one for the children of whom we sing Yes sir, yes sir, yes I do.

Thank you to all who contributed during May to the food banks!
Time to say THANK YOU! - With the school year almost over, it is time to say thank you to all who helped out in the kitchen this year! We say thank you to the volunteers who helped with the visitors’ lunch during Lutheran Schools Week, to the people who filled in when Mrs. Lewey was gone and when I was in South Dakota for two weeks, to the trustees for keeping the kitchen in working order, to the men who fixed the kitchen wall when someone ran into it, and for all the donations of flatware, dish towels, pot holders and calculator.
Mrs. Henschen & Mrs. Lewey
Beginning June 1, 2010, Mrs. Lewey will have a new job. She will be taking care of her granddaughter Chloe, while her daughter Jenny goes back to work. That is one wonderful job to take on but what does this mean for Concordia this fall? Mrs. Lewey will continue to do before school care and will do one afternoon a week in preschool. She will not be returning to kitchen duty which makes us all sad. We are happy for her but sad we will not see her smiling face at the kitchen window. Mrs. Lewey has worked for the past 24 years at Concordia and has done many jobs around Concordia. She has been the before school care person, a preschool aide, kitchen aide and cook, and cleaned the school and the church. It has been wonderful working with Mrs. Lewey. Thank you, Mrs. Lewey for always going above and beyond the call of duty. Have fun with Chloe and may God bless you as He has blessed us with you being at Concordia!
Mrs. Henschen
