PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: “Instead, speaking the truth in love we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ.” Ephesians 4:15 National Lutheran Schools Week has come to an end, and our theme for his year “Preparing god’s People to Serve” was never exemplified more by all the volunteers who made the week so enjoyable. Thank you to so many who made the teachers’ morning treats, rand the book fair, planned all the events, helped in the kitchen on Friday, and attended the activities. A special thank you to Dawn Pryer and Nona Stuenkel for planning the week’s activities.
Also I would like to thank all the volunteers who made our basketball season a success. This includes our coaches, P.T.L., and all the volunteers who worked in the concession stand, took tickets, worked the scoreboard, and did the books.
Remember On Monday, March 21, 2005, we will be changing the 3:00 P.M. dismissal procedures. Please read the accompanying article.
God bless you all as we look forward to warmer weather.

NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK THANK YOU: The faculty and staff would like to thank the PTL for the “breakfast” they provided each morning for the faculty. The children enjoyed the donuts also. Thanks to all the parents, relatives, and friends who visited school, attended chapel, and went to lunch with the children. We appreciate and thank Patty Henschen for all the work and effort that she goes to each year to provide us with the excellent lunch. We also thank the members of the Lunch Bunch who served as substitute grandparents and kitchen helpers. A special thanks to Pastor Stuenkel from Good Shepherd, Sherman for leading us in chapel. The faculty representatives who organized our NLSW were Mrs. Pryer and Mrs. Stuenkel. Thanks you, ladies!

REPORT CARDS: Third Quarter ends today, March 18, and report cards will be sent home on Wednesday, March 23rd. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

PART-DAY PRESCHOOL: Registration for 3 and 4-year old children of Concordia’s church and school families are now being accepted for the 2005-2006 school year. We would be pleased to have your 3 or 4 year old, or your relative’s, neighbor’s or friend’s child be a part of our Christian fun and learning. Registration forms are in the church office and outside the Preschool classroom. If you would like more information or would like to arrange a visit, please call Pat Steffen, 529-3309 (school) or 529-1897 (home).

CHANGES: Please notify the school office if you have had a change of phone numbers either for work or home, of address, or of emergency names/numbers. For your child’s benefit and safety we need to have accurate information at all times.

MUSIC FESTIVAL & BIBLE BOWL: The Music Festival was held at Lutheran High School in conjunction with their Brunch on March 13. We are proud of our students who participated. Congratulations to Ashley V. and Katie S. who won first place in the vocal department. The Bible Bowl was held at Lutheran High on Saturday, March 12. Thank you to our 5th and 6th grade teams for participating. Our 5th grade team was Olivia L. and Jesse T. Our 6th grade team was Ashley V. and Katie S.

TRANSPORTATION REIMBURSEMENT: We have received the transportation reimbursement information. Please come in and sign up at your earliest convenience. The person filling out the form will need to have his or her social security number for the form.

LHS NEWS: Our 6th graders had the opportunity to visit Lutheran High School today from 9:00 AM until noon. This gives the students an exposure to high school life and helps them begin thinking about their high school years. If anyone else would like to spend a day visiting Lutheran High School, contact Lutheran High, and the student will be matched up with a LHS student for the day.
Tonight is also the 7th & 8th Grade Dance sponsored by Lutheran High at Lutheran High from 8-10 P.M. Come and meet other areas junior high students and have fun with your friends at LHS.
The next placement test for incoming freshmen is June 4, 2005—8:30-11:45 A.M. Call the high school office (extension 10) or Mrs. Parris (extension 20) to sing up to take the freshmen placement test.

QUOTABLE QUOTES

SO BE IT!
(a tongue in cheek perspective of an anonymous writer )

So if the US government determines that it is against the law for the word “under God” to be on our money, then so be it.

And if that same government decides that the “Ten Commandments” are not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

And since they already have prohibited any prayer in the schools, which they deem is within their authority, then so be it.

I say, “so be it,” because I would like to be a law-abiding U.S. citizen.

I say, “so be it,” because I would like to think that smarter people than I are in positions to make good decisions. I would like to think that those people have my best interest at heart.

BUT, do you know what else I’d like?

I’d like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, and Sunday.

I’d like the U.S. Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, as well as Sundays.

I’d like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the “Christmas Break.”

I’m thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices and services would work on Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter. It shouldn’t cost any overtime since those would be just like any other days of the week to a government that is trying to be “politically correct.”

This would not effect any “non-governmental” business since everyone else still has the freedom of religion, we could all still enjoy our holidays.

So I guess if they continue to bow to the wishes of the few, maybe they would bow to the wishes of the many.

So be it….
