PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: After a week of storms and clean up, it may seem strange to talk about “Growing in Christ through Worship.” Although sometimes with all the gadgets and inventions this world has to offer, we can start to feel like we can take care of things ourselves. Maybe this is a time to remember who really is in charge, and that we need to thank Him always for watching over us even in storms. Maybe that is who there is some truth in the old saying “there are no atheists in foxholes.”

We thank God that He took care of all us through these storms, and that the church and school were undamaged. I apologize if having school in session on Tuesday caused any of you a hardship. Normally and by policy we follow what District 186 does with school closings, but in this situation when District 186 had bus difficulties and property damage, which did not involve our school, I felt it was more important to have school

Thank you all for making National Lutheran Schools Week a really good time!

God bless you all as we look forward to warmer weather.

NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK THANK YOU: The faculty and staff would like to thank the PTL for the “breakfast” they provided each morning for the faculty. The children enjoyed the donuts also. Thanks to all the parents, relatives, and friends who visited school, attended chapel, and went to lunch with the children. We appreciate and thank Patty Henschen for all the work and effort that she goes to each year to provide us with the excellent lunch. We also thank the members of the Lunch Bunch who served as substitute grandparents and kitchen helpers. A special thanks to Pastor Hennig for leading us in chapel. The faculty representatives who organized our NLSW were Mrs. Stuenkel and Mrs. Reed. Thanks you, ladies!

QUOTABLE QUOTES

THE PASTOR’S CAT

Dwight Nelson recently told a true story about the pastor of his church. He had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc.
The kitten would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.
That’s what he did, all the while checking his progress in the car. He then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved the car a little further forward, the rope broke. The tree went “boing!” and the kitten instantly sailed through the air, out of sight.
The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stay kitten. So he prayed, “Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping,” and went on about his business.
A few days later he was at the grocery store and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. This woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, “Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?”
She replied, “You won’t believe this,” and then told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few day before, the child had begged again, so the mom finally told her little girl, “Well, if God gives you a cat, I’ll let you keep it.”
She told the pastor, “I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won’t believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in from of her.”
Never underestimate the power of God and His unique sense of humor.
