PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: National Lutheran Schools Week is here, and it is time to celebrate. We don’t celebrate because of what we have done, but what Christ does through Concordia Lutheran School. Let us all take time to thank our Lord for giving us this school to teach His children about Christ. “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” John 17:3.
On Monday, March 14, 2005 we will be implementing a new school dismissal procedure. We are seeking to make our dismissal at 3:00 P.M. as safe as possible for the children. Please watch for further information.
Check out what Mayor Tim Davlin thought about our school when he visited us last month. We have a copy of the letter included in The Charger.
Have a great National Lutheran Schools Week, and may God bless all of you. Dan Henschen
NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK: Next week is National Lutheran Schools Week. Attached is a list of the events and schedules for next week. Be sure to note the various dress up days and special activities. We have National Lutheran Schools week for the purpose of thanking God for the gift of Christian education. We thank Him for the opportunity to carry out His will of providing Christ-centered educational experiences that will train a child in the ways that please our Lord and equip our children.
LENTEN WORHIP: Our Lenten services continue each Wednesday evening at 7:00. A meal is available before the services (5:30) to make it easier to attend church without first having to prepare a meal. Come and join us for fellowship during the meal and worship at 7:00.
CAMPBELL SOUP: Thank you to all who collected Campbell Soup labels for Concordia’s preschool and school. Labels were turned in for the following: a video set on inventors and their inventions, two 9” jelly balls, and a 34” huggers ball. Keep collecting items listed to be exchanged for more items the children can use to enjoy and learn. Labels can be brought to school anytime or deposited in the container in the back of church. Thank you!
CONFIRMATION TRIP: Our confirmands will leave on their annual Confirmation Trip on Friday, March 11, and return Saturday, March 12.
MUSIC CONTEST: The Music Contest will again be held at Lutheran High School in conjunction with their Brunch on March 13. We have several students participating in the music contest. Come out and enjoy the delicious food and the musical talents of the children in our area Lutheran schools.
LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOLARSHIPS: The PTL recently revisited the guidelines for awarding scholarship money to students from Concordia who attend Lutheran High School. With the input of Mr. Henschen, the teachers and several parents, the guidelines and procedures were updated and revised. The Board of Education and Council were also made aware of the proposed changes before they were finally approved. Letters will be going out in the next couple of weeks to all students currently attending Lutheran High or 8th graders planning to attend Lutheran High in the fall regarding the updated guidelines and timelines on when the letters of request are due. Thanks to everyone who helped the PTL update these guidelines and procedures.
