PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: Next week we will celebrate Lutheran Schools Week with a whole bunch of activities. Take time to be part of the fun with your family and celebrate the opportunity that our children have to attend Concordia Lutheran School and Springfield Lutheran High School.
During this week we cannot forget to give thanks to Concordia Lutheran Church for making Christian education in a Lutheran school such a high priority. He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” Mark 9:36-37
God bless you all as we work together to tell His children about Christ.
Dan Henschen
NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK: Next week is National Lutheran Schools Week. Attached is a list of the events and schedules for next week. Be sure to note the various dress up days and special activities. We have National Lutheran Schools week for the purpose of thanking God for the gift of Christian education. We thank Him for the opportunity to carry out His will of providing Christ-centered educational experiences that will train a child in the ways that please our Lord and equip our children.
LENTEN WORHIP: Our Lenten services continue each Wednesday evening at 7:00. A meal is available before the services (5:30) to make it easier to attend church without first having to prepare a meal. Come and join us for fellowship during the meal and worship.
CAMPBELL SOUP: Concordia students are collecting labels and UPC codes for items used in the classroom. Please save these items and bring them to school or church. Thank you for supporting our school and students.
MUSIC CONTEST: The Music Contest will again be held at Lutheran High School in conjunction with their Brunch on March 19. We have several students participating in the music contest. Come out and enjoy the delicious food and the musical talents of the children in our area Lutheran schools.
BOOK FAIR: We will be holding a book fair starting Sunday, March 5 and running through Friday, March 10. Check your child’s book bag for more details.
STORYTELLER BRIAN “FOX” ELLIS: On March 16 from 9:30—10:15am Storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis portrays John James Audubon. Listen to tales of Audubon’s adventures as he finishes something no one had ever accomplished before: drawing every bird in North America. In this entertaining and meticulously researched monologue drawing from Audubon’s journals, essays, and letters to his friends and colleagues, Audubon comes to life.
LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOLARSHIPS: The PTL recently revisited the guidelines for awarding scholarship money to students from Concordia who attend Lutheran High School. With the input of Mr. Henschen, the teachers and several parents, the guidelines and procedures were updated and revised. The Board of Education and Council were also made aware of the proposed changes before they were finally approved. Letters will be going out in the next couple of weeks to all students currently attending Lutheran High or 8th graders planning to attend Lutheran High in the fall regarding the updated guidelines and timelines on when the letters of request are due. Thanks to everyone who helped the PTL update these guidelines and procedures.

QUOTABLE QUOTES:
WHO’S IN HEAVEN
I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
By the lights or its décor.
But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp-
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics, the trash.
There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
Who never said anything nice.
Herb, who I always thought
Was rotting in hell,
Was sitting pretty on a seat,
Looking incredibly well.
I nudged Jesus, “What’s the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How’d all these sinners get up here?
God must’ve made a mistake.
And why’s everyone so quiet,
So somber? Give me a clue?”
“Hush, child,” said He, “They’re all in shock.
No one thought they’d see you.”
