January 09, 2009
The School year is just about half done. Progress reports will be coming home shortly for second quarter. This may be a good time to sit down with your child and find out how school is going for them academically. Then maybe you could double check with your child’s teacher.
There is still time to help your child make improvements before the year is over. With the cold nights and short days of January it is a good time to remember our theme this year “Jesus Gives Me Strength”. He will see us through it and Spring will be here soon.
God bless you all.
-Dan Henschen

The due dates for your articles on listed on our form, which can be located in the office, or on the narthex table. When you have filled them out, please turn them in to the office.
**REMINDER: When you are picking up your children early from school, you need to stop by the office and officially sign them out! -Thank you, Sharon & Lora

Your Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated
*If you have just a half an hour each day a volunteer is still needed to help in the 4-year old preschool class from 11-11:30. If interested please contact Emily Weimer at the church 529-3309.
*1st and 2nd grade is still in need of an additional reading helper! Helping only involves coming to school from 9:30-10:30 am on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. All you need to do is listen to a group of 3-4 children take turns reading the assigned story of the day. The more volunteers the smaller the groups. If you know anyone who would be interested, please contact Pam Billotte 529-3309.
*When cleaning out your old “Stuff”, Please think of Concordia. Our classrooms are in need of your donations. If you are trying to get rid of any of these things or are at the store and see any of these items on sale, your help would be greatly appreciated. The needed items are:
Extended Care: any theme craft supplies, Nerf balls, Frisbees, Play dough and supplies
Preschool: old magazines (especially those with pictures of food)
Pre K: plastic coffee containers, empty and clean pudding/Jell-O/land-o-lakes butter
containers (oblong shape), mittens and gloves (don’t have to match), old pants
(size 4/5), socks and underwear (boys and girls), plastic store bags, Halloween
costumes make great dress-up clothes, brown paper lunch bags

*Concordia Lutheran Church is in the process of building a new room called “The Heritage Room”. This room will be used to hold meetings, Bible class, counseling, a place for the funeral families, a bride’s dressing room and other applications. Capitol items will be included as part of the mortgage but the furnishings will have to come from individual donations. The committee set up to take care of the layout and furnishings have decided to have all of the furnishings be oak and brass. If you have any items that you would like to donate please send a colored picture with your name and phone number along with the dimensions of the item to the church office. The item will then be considered as to it’s suitability for the overall plan for furnishing the room.
Thank you for all of the donations of items needed so far and for the volunteers who are giving their time.

What if Boots Didn’t Want to Walk?
Boots are made for walking, but is that what they wanted to do? What if they didn’t even want to be a shoe?! No one ever asked them what they wanted to be. Maybe they wanted to be a gem or a multi-colored tree! Just because it is –
doesn't’ mean it’s the way it should be.
