February 20, 2009

Technology is everywhere and it is changing so fast. What is a standard today, will be obsolete tomorrow. Fortunately for us, we have a God who does not change and is always up-to-date and relevant. “I the Lord do not change.” Malachi 3: 6. That is just another reason why He is our strength, always.

We just installed a SMART board in our computer lab, so our children will have another way to learn. The computers in the lab are also working faster because of the changes in the software and the security programs. The changes made them much more usable for our students. Thanks to Brian D., Michael B. and Pastor Hennig for making the improvements.

God bless you all as we wind down the basketball season and look forward to National Lutheran Schools Week.

-Dan Henschen

The Joy of Giving

February Chapel Offerings:

The February chapel offerings are going to help our Bethesda Friends. We will help assist them with some of their needs.

Remember!! Due to the door alarms having some trouble lately, parents have been dropping off their children in front of the office. Our handbook states that children should be left off in the gym parking lot. We know that it is inconvenient to walk around the building, and we apologize for the extra steps. We hope to have the doorbells fixed very soon! You need to be aware of oncoming traffic and try not to impede the parking for our staff. Our staff come and go from the front parking lot and need to be able to do that in a safe manner.

**School Dismissal Due to Bad Weather—If it is necessary to close school due to severe weather, mechanical failure, or other emergencies the announcement will be made over local radio stations WMAY (970 AM), WTAX (1240 AM), and WDBR (103.7 FM). Please do not call the teachers! Concordia will align school closing with District 186 (except for early dismissals) due to bad weather or other emergencies that are not affecting Concordia.

Anytime you have a question please do not hesitate to call the office. -Thank you, Sharon & Lora

On February 12th, all students in grades K-8 were invited to guess the number of Sweet Tart Hearts in a jar. Numbers from 200-343 were provided so all students had to do was find a number and sign their name next to it. The winner would either be the student who guessed the exact number or the one closest to the number without going over it.

We had an exact winner!
1. Gary R. from the 5th grade guessed the correct number of 321. The grand prize
was the jar of candy, three free extras for lunch and a basketball.
2. The 2nd place winner was Jacob L. from the 6th grade with a guess of 320.
He received a Dwight Howard poster and two free extras for lunch.
3. The 3rd place winner was Nathan W. from the 6th grade with a guess of 318. He received one free extra for lunch and a soccer ball.

It was decided also to recognize the closest guess in each grade and they were as follows:
Kindergarten Bo L. #312
1st Grade Ethan D. #317
2nd Grade Lexi R. #297
3rd Grade Alicia B. #311

Mrs. Bandelow

Always making sure I do my best.
Making sure I always understand.
Teaching me right from wrong,
in the nicest possible ways.
Helping me out when I’m down,
and always there to listen.
