PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: The staff is making the final preparations for National Lutheran Schools week that will be celebrated the week of March 6. This brings to mind again and again the purpose of not only Concordia but all our Lutheran schools. We are here to provide your children with a Christ centered education at a time when that is not what the world has to offer. The public schools are prohibited from doing what we do on a daily basis. How blessed we are to have this opportunity! How blessed we also are to have a congregation willing to provide the support necessary for this ministry. Please help us to continue this ministry by leading more students to our programs. We will have an open house on March 8 for our congregation members so they can see what they are supporting. This open house will just as importantly be for any families interested in sending their children to Concordia. The teachers will be in their classroom to answer any questions the people may have. Mr. Henschen will also be happy to contact families that you suggest might be interested in our school. Mayor Davlin called us a “Hidden Jewel”. Let’s remake that description to “Well Known Jewel”. Pam Billotte
MUSIC CONTEST: The Lutheran High School Music contest is March 13, 2005. Information has been sent home with the students. This is open to all students kindergarten through eighth grades. We hope many of our students will participate in the contest.
PUBLICITY COMMITTEE: A publicity committee has been established to develop ideas and ways to promote the school. Any one is welcome to join the committee. If perhaps you don’t want to join the committee but have ideas on ways we can become less the “Hidden Jewel in Springfield” that Mayor Davlin called us, and more the recognized jewel in Springfield, please contact Mr. Henschen or anyone else on the committee. The committee presently consists of Vonda and Corey
W., Sue E., and Bob M.. They are open to ideas anyone would like to suggest.
PTL SPAGHETTI DINNER: The PTL Spaghetti dinner will be held on Sunday, March 6, after late church in the school gym. This will be in honor of National Lutheran Schools Week which begins on March 6. There will be a free will offering with the proceeds going to the P.T.L. Lutheran High Scholarship Fund.
NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOL WEEK: National Lutheran Schools week is coming up the first of March. Scheduled events are a PTL Spaghetti Dinner, 5-8 Grade Science Fair, an all school book Fair, Roller Skating, a variety show, Visitors Day on Friday with a special chapel service followed by lunch with the guests. We thank God for our school and celebrate with other Lutheran schools March 6-13. See the page at the end of The Charger with more details.
VISITATION FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS: You will notice on our National Lutheran Schools Week agenda that on Tuesday night there is a visitation for prospective students. This is an area wide Lutheran school event where all the Lutheran schools in the area are having an open house for prospective students and their families on the same night. We are encouraging the community to come and see what Christian education is all about. Please help us and invite people who you know are seeking a Christian educational environment for their children.
CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS: Please remember to be saving the labels. It won’t be long before the school will be placing our yearly order for school needs. The more labels we have, the more we can “purchase” with them. Check with your child’s teacher if you are unsure of what labels we are collecting.
LUTHERAN HIGH BRUNCH: Don’t forget the annual Lutheran High School Brunch in conjunction with our area wide Lutheran Schools Music Contest on March 13th.
