February 06, 2009
The state of Illinois has gone through many changes the last couple of weeks. We have a new Governor and a new President. Hopefully both of them are familiar with what our school theme emphasizes: Jesus gives me strength Psalm 105:4.
This is really a good time to talk to our children about politics and as parents we can also model good citizenship for our children. That no matter what our political beliefs, we need to pray for our elected representatives.
God bless you all as we look forward to warmer weather and another chance to teach His Children.
Dan Henschen

February Chapel Offerings:
The February chapel offerings are going to help our Bethesda Friends. We will help assist them with some of their needs.
**School Dismissal Due to Bad Weather—If it is necessary to close school due to severe weather, mechanical failure, or other emergencies the announcement will be made over local radio stations WMAY (970 AM), WTAX (1240 AM), and WDBR (103.7 FM). Please do not call the teachers! Concordia will align school closing with District 186 (except for early dismissals) due to bad weather or other emergencies that are not affecting Concordia.
When you are picking up your children early from school, you need to stop by the office and officially sign them out!
Anytime you have a question please do not hesitate to call the office. -Thank you, Sharon & Lora

**Watch the State Journal Register for: future writings by the Concordia’s own 5th & 6th grade students! Our student’s writings may be found as part of “Kid Scoop,” which is published on Wednesday of each week. The following were printed on January 28th:
I cut a hole in the ice on a frozen lake and to my surprise, I saw a blue zebra. This zebra was extraordinary. It was swimming under water and didn’t look distressed. I think it was a new creature, a mixture of a walrus and a zebra. Its name was Blueberry. It said it was traveling to a secret underwater city called fruit land.

I cut a hole in the ice on a frozen lake and to my surprise, I saw a whale. It was white and black and I think it was an orca whale. It smiled up at me with a big toothy grin. I wonder what I will find if I look in that hole again!
