PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: This is surely a time to be reminded that we should
be Growing in Grace and Knowledge. The Lord is good to all; He has
compassion on all He has made. Psalm 14:9
Take time to pray with your children about our country and for our
leaders. It is a great time to teach our children where our help comes from in time of
trouble.
God bless you all as together we seek to teach His children.
Dan
Henschen
CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS: Please remember to be saving the labels. It wont be long
before the school will be placing our yearly order for school needs. The more labels we
have, the more we can purchase with them. Check with your childs teacher
if you are unsure of what labels we are collecting.
CHAPEL: Our chapel service for the week of February 8th will be changed from Wednesday to
Tuesday, February 10, for a special concert by Christian singer, songwriter, author, and
humorist, Don Wharton. Parents and friends are invited and encouraged to attend. Our
chapel service will be the usual time of 8:50. Please see the information on Don Wharton
at the end of The Charger.
PART-DAY PRESCHOOL: Beginning Tuesday, February 17, registration for 3 and 4 year old
children of Concordias church and school families will be accepted for the 2004-2005
school year. On Monday, March 1, registration will be open to everyone on a first come,
first served basis. We would be pleased to have your 3 or 4 year old, or your
relatives, neighbors, or friends child be a part of our Christian fun
and learning. Registration forms are in the church office and outside the Preschool
classroom. If you would like more information or would like to arrange a visit, please
call Patricia Steffen, 529-3309 (school) or 529-1897 (home).
GENERAL MILLS LABELS: Please continue to collect Box Tops from all General Mills products.
These include not only cereal but many other items like soups, sauces, frozen dinners.
Etc. There are collection boxes in each classroom and outside the church sanctuary. Each
box top earns 10 cents for our school. This adds up to several hundred dollars by the end
of the school year!
LUTHERANS FOR LIFE: In January our chapel offerings went toward Lutherans for Life. During
chapel we celebrated the wonderful life God has blessed us with in song and penny
offerings. Pastor Olander also has a childrens video explaining in simple language
the biology of our personal creation. If you are looking for a way to better explain the
scientific process to your child, you many borrow Pastors video. Because of the
different parenting viewpoints, the teachers felt this lesson was best taught in the home.
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS: With February comes the opportunity to enjoy several basketball
tournaments. This weekend Concordia hosts the Girls Junior Varsity tournament on
Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7. The following Saturday, February 14, we will
host the Girls Varsity Tournament. On February 20-22 Trinity hosts the JV Boys
Tournament. The last weekend of the month (February 27-29) we will participate in the
GSLAA Varsity Boys Tournament. All families and friends are invited to come and support
their childs school and cheer on the teams.
P.T.L.: The PTL is scheduled to meet on Thursday, February 19, from 5:15 until 6:00. The
PTL officers have worked very hard this year to keep our parents informed about PTL
meetings/events as well provide topics of interest to our school families. Please put the
19th meeting on your calendar and plan to attend.
NO SCHOOL: There will be no school on Monday, February 16, in observance of
Presidents Day.
MID-QUARTER: The mid-quarter ends on Friday, February 13. Mid-quarter reports for grades
K-8 will be sent home on Wednesday, February 18. Watch your childs bookbag for these
reports. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your childs teacher.
ASH WEDNESDAY: Lent begins on Wednesday, February 25 with the observance of Ash Wednesday.
Concordia will again offer Wednesday night worship opportunities throughout the Lenten
season with meals preceding the 7:00 service at 5:30.
LUTHERAN HIGH NEWS: Upcoming dates to keep in mind from LHS are: March 13-Placement Test
#2, March 14-Lutheran High Brunch & Music Festival at LHS, March 26-Sixth Grade Day at
