PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: Christmas is just about here, and everyone especially the children are gearing up for the celebration. It certainly can be fun with family and friends, but it can also be a little shallow if we forget that Christmas is the celebration of Christ’s birthday. Christ went on to die for our sins and rise again. Without that we would have nothing to celebrate at Christmas.

The preschoolers and kindergarten had their Christmas program at 7:00pm. Thursday evening. Grades 1-8 will have their Christmas service next Wednesday evening, December 20, at 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend because we have the room.

From the whole staff at Concordia Lutheran Church and School we wish you all a very merry Christmas and a Christ-filled new year.

Dan Henschen

GYM USAGE: There should be no playing in the gym before, between, or after any of our worship services. This includes both Sunday and weekday services.

CHRISTMAS VACATION: Christmas vacation begins on Thursday, December 21, at 1:00. School will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd at 8:30am.

LUTHERAN HIGH NEWS: Lutheran High is sponsoring their 7th annual cheerleading clinic on January 15, 2005 from 9:00 A.M.—2:45 P.M. With a performance at 2:30pm. This is open to any boy or girl in Kindergarten through 8th grade. The price is $25 and includes a pizza lunch and a T-shirt. If you are interested, a registration form is attached. The registration deadline is January 5.

NEEDED: The school is in need of clean one sided 8 1/2” x 11” copy paper. We are able to use one sided paper in our copy machine. If you know of or have access to clean one sided paper, please keep us in mind. Many times businesses have paper they have used on one side but no longer need. We can save money on the cost of paper if we can find one sided paper to use. Thank you!

***************************************************************************************** Quotable Quotes:

T’WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS

T’was the night before Christmas and all through the town
Not a sign of Baby Jesus was anywhere to be found.
The people were all busy with Christmas time chores
Like decorating, and baking, and shopping in stores.
No one sang, “Away in a manger, no crib for a bed”.
Instead, they sang of Santa all dressed up in red.
Mama watched decorating shows, Papa drank beer from a tap.
As hour upon hour the presents they’d wrap.
When what from the TV did they suddenly hear?
‘Cept an ad...which told of a big sale at Sears.
So away to the mall they all flew like a flash…
Buying things on credit...and others with cash!
And as they made their way home from their trip to the mall,
Did they think about Jesus? Oh, no...not at all.
Their lives were so busy with their Christmas time things
No time to remember Christ Jesus, the King.
There were presents to wrap and cookies to bake.
How could they stop and remember Who died for their sake?
To pray to the Savior...they had no time to stop
Because they needed more time to “Shop till they dropped!”
On Wal-Mart! On K-Mart! On Target! On Penny’s!
On Hallmark! On Zales! A quick lunch at Denny’s.
From the big stores downtown to the stores at the mall
They would dash away, dash away, and visit them all.
And up on the roof, there arose such a clatter
As Grandpa hung icicle lights up on his brand new step ladder.
He hung lights that would flash. He hung lights that would twirl.
Yet he never once prayed to Jesus...Light of the World.
Christ’s eyes...how they twinkle! Christ’s spirit...how merry!
Christ’s love...how enormous! All our burdens...He’ll carry!
So instead of being busy, overworked, and uptight
Let’s put Christ back in Christmas and enjoy the good night!
Merry Christmas!!
