[To Home Page] [To Site Map] [To Grade School Page] [Other Charger Editions] December 5, 2003 PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: The hustle and bustle of the Christmas season is upon us. Shoppers are lined up to the back of the stores waiting to check out their items. The school is also busily preparing for the Christmas programs. With all the activity, we cannot forget to grow in grace and knowledge by worshipping with your family. Both Christmas programs - the kindergarten & preschool program and the grades 1-8 program - will be in the gym this year. There should be plenty of room for all, and it will be easier to see. We may be a little cramped for parking space, but if we car pool that should not be a big problem. God bless you all this Advent season as we prepare for the coming of the King. "And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds." Luke 2: 17-18 Dan Henschen THANK YOU: Thanks to all who helped with the Love Shop by making items as well as staffing the shop. The children enjoyed shopping and finding that "perfect" gift for a family member or friend. It was a wonderful success. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six pack of rootbeer, and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he meet an old man. He was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his rootbeer when he noticed that the old man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. He gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. His smile was so nice that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a rootbeer. Again, he smiled at the boy. He was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was. As he got up to leave but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old man, and gave him a hug. He gave the boy his biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? Hes got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!" Meanwhile, the old man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face, and he asked him, "Father, what did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added, "You know, hes much younger than I expected." Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, and honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring. al of which have the potential to turn a life around. God puts people into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally as you share Gods love and become "Jesus with skin on" to His people.
