PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING: The Advent season is here, and that means preparation. As we prepare our hearts for Christ’s coming, we are reminded of our theme for this school year, “Preparing God’s People to Serve.” We all need to prepare our hearts to serve if we really want to understand Christ’s sacrifice for us.
The staff at Concordia needs your help. When the various classes are to sing for a church service at Concordia, we have very low participation by the students. Thanks to all the parents who regularly have their children here to sing. I understand that if you are not a member of Concordia, it can be difficult to attend your church as well as having your child sing at Concordia, but that does not explain why members are not bringing their children to church. If we want our children to learn the importance of worship, parents and their children need to participate in worship regularly. If we can change our schedules for sports, entertainment, and travel; let us also change them for worship. We also need to have our students participate in their respective Christmas programs.
God bless you all this Advent season, and do take time to prepare. Dan Henschen
THANK YOU: Thanks to all who helped with the Love Shop by making items as well as staffing the shop. The children enjoyed shopping and finding that “perfect” gift for a family member or friend. It was a wonderful success.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS: What a wonderful opportunity to remind ourselves of the true meaning of Christmas by attending our Christmas programs. The preschools and kindergarten class will present their program on Thursday, December 16, at 7:00 PM, and grades 1-8 will have their program Tuesday, December 21, at 7:00. Come and hear the Christmas story and bring a friend or family member along to share with you. Both programs will be held in the gym.
CHILI COOK OFF WINNERS: Congratulations to Sue E. and Rhon H. for taking 1st and 2nd place in the Concordia PTL Chili Cook Off on November 19. Thanks also to all the volunteers who helped with the chili dinner and the jamboree. A good time was had by all!
SCHOOL CLOSING REMINDER: When District #186 closes, so does Concordia.
CAMPBELL SOUP: Thank you to all who collected Campbell Soup labels for Concordia’s preschool and school. Labels were turned in for the following: a video set on inventors and their inventions, two 9” jelly balls, and a 34” huggers ball. Keep collecting items listed to be exchanged for more items the children can use to enjoy and learn. Labels can be brought to school anytime or deposited in the container in the back of church. Thank you!
