Achievement tests are going to begin next week for the upper grades and have begun at a slower pace for the lower grades. Tests are always a part of life even after we are out of school, so this is a chance for our children to develop these skills. The results can be used as one of the tools to see how our children are doing academically.
Parents can really assist their child in preparing for these tests, by having the child get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast and not miss school. These are all things we should do for our children everyday.
Warmer weather is coming and the month of May brings out the shorts. As our children keep growing, remember that shorts that worked last fall may not be long enough this spring.
God bless you all as we continue to teach His children together. “As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!” - Luke 12: 27”
-Dan Henschen
Lutheran High Scholarships - A Reminder to all current Lutheran High students and Future Lutheran High students who will be enrolling in the 2009-2010 school year: PTL requires students who would like to receive the scholarship for the 2009-2010 school year to write letters requesting the scholarship and turn in to PTL by May 11, 2009.
April Chapel Offerings
The April chapel offerings are going to:
Lutheran High School
Thank you for your patience while we were working on the doors. We believe that the trouble with the doorbells has been fixed!
Arrival Procedure from the Handbook: Children should be left off in the gym parking lot. Children may enter the school through the door by the gym, and from 8:15am students may also enter through the lower school door. Children should not enter through the door by the offices unless accompanied by a guardian or the child has business with the office. All children arriving at school prior to 8:15am need to go to before school care. No children are allowed to wait by the front doors unaccompanied by an adult. Children may wait in the cars with their parents or stand outside the door with an adult, but they cannot wait by themselves. Children arriving prior to 8:00am will pay the regular amount for extended care.
You need to continue to be aware of oncoming traffic and the school children who may be in your path. Also, during the school day, if picking up a student early or dropping a student off late, the student needs to come through the office and sign in or out. When doing this in front of the school, remember not to impede the parking for our staff. Our staff come and go from the front parking lot and need to be able to do that in a safe manner also.
Anytime you have a question please do not hesitate to call the office. -Thank you, Sharon & Lora

Everyone is invited to our spring musical which will be Thursday, April 30th at 7:00pm in the school gym. The program is titled: “A Patriotic Musical Salute to America.” All school children will be participating and we are asking that all of the children wear red white & blue for the program. We can also use your help. If any family has digital or photos on CD of historical places or scenic sites across America that we can put in a power point presentation for the big screen, please make a copy and send to school as soon as possible. A BIG THANK YOU>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
A Great big thank you goes out to the family who paid the bill to get the dishwasher in the school kitchen fixed. We cannot say thank you enough! God bless you!
Another thank you goes to Carolyn S., Angela G., Jeannine M. and Sue E. for filling in during
Martha L.’s absence. We appreciate your willingness to help!
One more thank you goes to the trustees for always keeping things working in the kitchen. We really like not getting sprayed with water when we turn on the faucet. The water flows so much better out of the new faucet. Thank you for that and all you do!
God Bless -Patty Henschen

I think free press is important because without the freedom of the press people in high status could keep people from telling the truth. With the freedom of the press that couldn’t happen. -Samuel (5th grade)(03-04-09)
Yes, freedom of the press is very important. With the freedom of the press we are aloud to talk about government freely, without being put in jail. Many other people can not do that. Also with the freedom of the press we know what is going on around the world.
-Cassie (6th grade)(03-04-09)
A woman I admire is my mom. My mom will always love me no matter what I do. I can trust my mom, she is my best friend. I will always love her no matter what. My mom is the one I can trust to help me stay organized. I love her a whole lot.
-Aubrey (6th grade)(03-18-09)
Why shouldn’t you tell a pig a secret? ………….... Because they are squealers! One more, what side of a chicken has the most feathers? ………………...The outside!

If April showers bring May flowers, then what do May flowers bring? …………………..
........................................................................................................They bring Pilgrims!
-Adam (5th grade)(04-01-09)
Shocking news! The Easter Bunny was seen. He was seen hopping down Bunny Lane headed to Springfield. On his way he left candy eggs, so I followed the trail. Wow! He was right there! I saw him on Easter Eve.
-Logan (5th grade)(04-08-09)
The Easter Bunny has been spotted right here in Springfield at Washington Park. A little boy spotted him and followed him for a while on April 5th, 2009. Then the little boy was on the slide when he saw two big white ears in the distance. No one has seen the bunny since!
